Orlando, FL – Guests at Walt Disney World’s EPCOT were caught off guard on Saturday evening when a fire broke out in the park’s World Showcase.
A Walt Disney World official confirmed to FOX Business that the fire, which originated in a backstage area of the France Pavilion, was quickly extinguished by 7:20 p.m. local time. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and no buildings sustained damage.
According to reports, the blaze started when a walk-in cooler caught fire. As a precaution, guests on Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, a popular 4D ride in the France Pavilion, were evacuated. While the pavilion itself reopened to visitors before the park’s scheduled 9 p.m. closure, the ride remained shut for the rest of the evening.

Disney World describes Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure as an immersive attraction where guests "join Chef Remy on a daring culinary caper" through a virtual Parisian kitchen.
The incident occurred during a particularly busy time for the theme park, as Spring Break crowds and EPCOT’s International Flower & Garden Festival overlapped.
Authorities, including the Orange County Sheriff's Office, have yet to issue an official statement on the fire.
