The two-stage rocket lifted off in the late-night darkness at 2:03 a.m. EST from Launch Complex 36. The heavy-lift vehicle's second stage later carried the private space company's Blue Ring pathfinder test equipment into a final target orbit after a pair of engine burns. And the NG-1 mission serves as the vehicle's first National Security Space Launch certification flight with the Space Force.
